ENCOUNTERING THE WILD AT DARGAN

by | Jul 5, 2019 | Our Collective

Ryan has been busy filming for several climate action campaigns, including Voice of the Barka (Murray-Darling Basin) and further filming in Fiji and New Zealand for WeWill.  Now we are finally pleased to share with you Ryan Jasper Walsh’s video record of our 2018 launch event, Encountering the Wild, which was held at Gallery H, Dargan, on the northern side of the Blue Mountains National Park.  Gallery H forms part of a complex of modern fire-resistant buildings created by Mark O’Carrigan, inspired by the natural caves of the Monkey Creek gorge over which the complex looks—with views south to Hartley.

Ryan was returning to the Blue Mountains to complete the filming of Tom Zubricki’s documentary for the Gardens of Stone Alliance campaign to declare a new Gardens of Stone Conservation Area, centred around Lithgow, as the basis family-friendly tourism in the western Blue Mountains.  The Gardens of Stones Alliance comprises the Colong Foundation, Blue Mountains Conservation Society and the Lithgow Environment Group.  The documentary was launched together with the Destination Pagoda Plan requiring a government investment of an estimated $31.6 million over the first 10 years of its development.

The sculptor Henryk Topolnicki and his partner Merren French who runs Gallery H have promised to host another Encountering the Wild event in December 2019, featuring our multi-arts approach with an emphasis on sculpture: art, music, keynote talks, conversation and food.
